No guns, No Barbies

While environmentalists and leftwing lobby groups spent last week protesting the APEC Summit, and busineses were forced out of Sydney to make way for delegates, one marketer made the most of the disruption by staging their own 'she-protest'.

Although it wasn't on the scale of publicity attracted by the boys from The Chaser, Splash Consulting Group attracted attention for its independent toy retailer client Kidstuff. With its 'no guns, no Barbies' policy, it sent five Impact Media Scooterlites out for a ride around the perimeter of the APEC zone on Friday, Saturday & Sunday carrying the message "If only Bush's Mum shopped at Kidstuff. No guns policy". The message was met by applause from Sydneysiders and people everywhere took photos - many appreciating the lighter side of the otherwise serious gathering.
